BIBLE DOCTRINE
Truth with conviction—and humility.
One of the most divisive issues facing the local church today is the question about Bible Doctrine. Family Community Church is a non-denominational church with a firm commitment to the unadulterated, inerrant and uncompromising Word of God. We believe, as we continue to grow in our understanding of God’s Word, that our church doctrine should reflect the same without demeaning others that may disagree with us.
We have come to understand that Doctrine can be discussed in three categories:
Convictions
Those Biblical beliefs that are essentials to our Christian faith allowing us to respectfully disagree with others and realizing that the Lord will have the final word upon His return.
Preferences
Those Biblical beliefs and interpretations that are more governed by our culture and community of faith, such as preference for music, style and dress.
Here at Family Community Church when discussing our doctrine with others, we strive not to elevate a preference to an absolute and/or conversely.
2 Timothy 4:3–5For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
1 Timothy 4:6–8If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
